Tottenham Hotspur test event: 20 possible legends for the match with Inter Milan to follow Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, and Rafael van der Vaart
Tottenham Hotspur fans might be down in the dumps about recent results but the opening of their new stadium could be just around the corner. If their two test events are a success then they will play either Crystal Palace or Brighton & Hove Albion in their first senior match at the arena in April.Spurs legends Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane celebrate winning the League Cup in 2008.7
Spurs legends Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane celebrate winning the League Cup in 2008.
One of those test events is a legends match which will see a set of Spurs heroes from the past take on a similar group from Inter Milan’s history.Already a host of players have been announced, including modern greats Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov, and Rafael van der Vaart. Also named were 1999 League Cup final match-winner Allan Nielsen, David Howells, Stephen Carr, Darren Anderton and 1991 FA Cup winner Erik Thorstvedt. But who might be among some of the next batch of legends named by the club? talkSPORT.com takes a guess.

Paul Miller

Given he already plays for Spurs legends it would be an oversight if the UEFA Cup winner didnt get at least a cameo against Inter Milan.

Jurgen Klinsmann

Two of the brightest points in the 1990s were Spurs landing the German, in 1994 he was superb alongside Teddy Sheringham and helped the club avoid relegation in 1998. The World Cup winner could also play some of the game for Inter given his history with the club.

David Ginola

Undoubtedly a legend, the French winger thrilled fans at White Hart Lane and it would be great to see him make a cameo, although his recent heart problems could stop him doing much more.Ginola celebrates winning the Worthington Cup in 1999.7

Micky Hazard

An FA Cup and UEFA Cup winner with the club in the 1980s, hes a firm fans favourite for his time with his club and his interaction with fans on social media.

Ledley King

His knee might stop him from playing for anything more than a few minutes but who wouldnt love to see him on the pitch on the 26th minute for a good sing-song.

Nicola Berti

The Italian midfielder joined Spurs in 1998 as they tried to stave off the threat of relegation and scored key goals against Crystal Palace, Blackburn and Coventry. He was only with the club briefly, but is fondly remembered for the spell and is still sung about at games. Like Klinsmann, he can play for both sides.

Steffen Freund

The defensive midfielder was a hero for many Spurs fans during his time with the club and was inducted into the clubs hall of fame in 2009.Freund battles with Arsenal’s Ray Parlour in a north London derby.7

Simon Davies

Welsh midfielder Davies had an injury hit spell with Spurs but when fully fit was a superb member of the squad, winning the player of the year award in 2002.

Teddy Sheringham

Watching the Spurs and England legend reunite with Klinsmann on the pitch would be a brilliant moment and he might try out an old corner routine with Darren Anderton too.

Mido

With his recent impressive weight loss, it would be brilliant to see the Egyptian back on the pitch in north London. His time at White Hart Lane was short but there were some sweet moments. His current managerial role at Al Wehda could get in the way of him taking part, though.

Paul Robinson

Robbo will forever be known to the White Hart Lane faithful as Englands No.1 following his four-season stint with Spurs.Robinson is well-loved by Spurs supporters.7

Lee Young-Pyo

Probably the most right-footed left-back in history, the South Korean star was a solid if unspectacular player for Spurs but fans still took him to their hearts.

Paul Stalteri

Purely for his match-winning goal against West Ham United in March 2007, the Canadian star should return to the new White Hart Lane.

Teemu Tainio

The Finnish midfielder was an under-rated fixture at Spurs, the team he supported as a boy in his homeland. He was a key member of the side which won the 2008 League Cup and is celebrated for taunting Didier Drogba during extra-time of the 2-1 victory. He deserves a spot for that alone, while his son, Maximus, plays for the clubs academy.

Edgar Davids

Out of the game since his managerial role at Barnet, the Dutch legend would surely be free to patrol the midfield if needed. Hes the third player in our list who could also feature for Inter Milan, from where Spurs signed him.Davids dances past Paul Scholes.7

Steed Malbranque

A bargain 2million signing in 2006, he was a member of Juande Ramos League Cup winning side. A reliable midfielder, he made 96 appearances in just two season, which is some going.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto

A regular at left-back for several years, he played for the club in their 2010/11 Champions League campaign and his efforts at full-back allowed Gareth Bale to flourish further forward.

Jonathan Woodgate

The scorer of Tottenhams winner in the 2008 League Cup final against Chelsea, even if it was just a rebound off his face. He also helped Spurs transition from also-rans to top four contenders and is remember fondly by supporters.Cech punched the ball into Woodgate’s face at Wembley.7

Niko Kranjcar

Hes been without a club for a year so could well be available for the fixture and would be a welcome addition to any squad given his technical ability.

Roman Pavlyuchenko

In his three-and-a-half years at Spurs, the Russian scored a number of key goals for the club. He grabbed a vital away goal against Young Boys in 2010 which helped them make the group stage of the Champions League, where he scored a further three times, including Tottenhams third in their 3-1 win over Inter Milan at White Hart Lane one of the most glorious nights in the clubs recent history.Pavlyuchenko was underused by Harry Redknapp.7
